RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: The primary problem in simultaneous bilateral auricle reconstruction is the fragility of the reconstructed ear structure. Postoperative pressure is strictly prohibited to ensure the operation's effectiveness. The study aimed to summarize the experience of perioperative postural management in simultaneous bilateral auricular reconstruction. METHOD: This study summarizes the experience of perioperative postural management, providing preoperative sleeping posture adaptability training, neck movement training, standardization of the head position angles and the head suspension time in surgery, using protective headrests, paying attention to the transfer and handover procedures, and using specially designed pillows. RESULTS: The comprehensive nursing approach in simultaneous bilateral auricular reconstruction significantly reduced complications, improved patient comfort, and optimized postoperative adaptation. Preoperative posture training, standardized intraoperative head positions, and vigilant postoperative care played pivotal roles, demonstrating positive outcomes in 46 cases. DISCUSSION: Perioperative position management can reduce the risk of complications and pressure injuries, improving patients' postoperative comfort, emotional state, tolerance, and adaptability. CONCLUSION: All ears were viable and in good shape after long-term follow-up. The experiences discussed in this study can be broadly applied to technically mature ear reconstruction teams.

RESUMO

Due to their high expectations, teachers often hide their real emotions and play a role that conforms to public expectations of educational work. Special education teachers face a group of students with physical and mental disabilities who have high heterogeneity and require individualized services every day. Using social support theory, this study discusses special education teachers' emotional labor and well-being. A total of 439 special education teachers in China participated in this study. We collected data at two different time-points and verified the research hypotheses with hierarchical regression and structural equation modeling analysis. The research findings show the mediating role of emotional labor in social support and well-being. It is, therefore, suggested that schools should pay more attention to special education teachers' mental health and provide them with regular guidance and support.

RESUMO

Polychronicity refers to the preference of some individuals to structure their time in order to deal with multiple tasks simultaneously in a short period of time. Past research regarding the correlation between individual polychronicity and performance presented distinct arguments. Although most studies supported a positive correlation with performance, empirical findings showed inconsistent results, indicating the presence of other influencing factors. According to the person-environment fit theory and self-determination theory, the effect of polychronicity on job performance was verified and the mediation effect of well-being was tested in this study. Dual-mode questionnaires were collected from 532 subordinators and their direct supervisors in 98 chain restaurants and hierarchical regression analysis was performed to test the research hypotheses. The results showed that polychronicity positively affected well-being, that is, well-being was a full mediator between polychronicity and job performance. This study provides valuable insight for managers to understand employee polychronicity and, in turn, improve their well-being, which could help improve job performance.

RESUMO

Twenty six peroxides belonging to bridged 1,2,4,5-tetraoxanes, bridged 1,2,4-trioxolanes (ozonides), and tricyclic monoperoxides were evaluated for their in vitro antimalarial activity against Plasmodium falciparum (3D7) and for their cytotoxic activities against immortalized human normal fibroblast (CCD19Lu), liver (LO2 ), and lung (BEAS-2B) cell lines as well as human liver (HepG2) and lung (A549) cancer-cell lines. Synthetic ozonides were shown to have the highest cytotoxicity on HepG2 (IC50 =0.19-0.59 µm), and some of these compounds selectively targeted liver cancer (selectivity index values for compounds 13 a and 14 a are 20 and 28, respectively) at levels that, in some cases, were higher than those of paclitaxel, artemisinin, and artesunic acid. In contrast some ozonides showed only moderate antimalarial activity against the chloroquine-sensitive 3D7 strain of P. falciparum (IC50 from 2.76 to 24.2 µm; 12 b, IC50 =2.76 µm; 13 a, IC50 =20.14 µm; 14 a, IC50 =6.32 µm). These results suggest that these derivatives have divergent mechanisms of action against cancer cells and malaria-infected cells. A cyclic voltammetry study of the peroxides was performed, but most of the compounds did not show direct correlation in oxidative capacity-activity. Our findings offer a new source of antimalarial and anticancer agents through structural modification of peroxide compounds.
